"Mottoe Succa" missed by her family and friends.

SuccaTDI

Succa was born at the Wayne County Humane Society, one of a litter of 11, born to a female Rottweiler. She came into our home at the age of 4 weeks and, as she grew, etched a special niche in our hearts.

Her best friend and surrogate mother was "Squeeky" our gray, male cat, who was 1 year old then. They loved each other, face rubbed whenever one would be gone for a while. They remained best friends to the day she died.

Succa was very intelligent, easy to train and very out-going. She loved everyone! She would smile when she greeted friends and just wiggle all over. But her greatest gift was that intuitive knowledge of knowing when someone was "hurting." She would go to that person, place her head on their lap and just quietly remain there while they would put their hand on her head. She would not move until they would get up to leave or when she and I would leave.

We felt that she could best serve by becoming a Therapy Dog. It took her awhile to pass her Good Citizenship testing as she did not feel she should be on a leash and that was one of the rules - you must walk on a loose leash. The second time around she passed with flying colors. And she was a good therapy dog - she just had a natural instinct for it.

One week after her 5th birthday we received the news that she had Lymphoblastic Lymphoma with a life expectancy of 3 to 5 months, or maybe much less. We were devastated. We searched the web looking for answers, we cried and cried some more. She stayed in relatively good health taking Prednisone and Colloidal Silver; eliminated all fats and sugars from her diet. She made it through 5 months, though she tired easily and her therapy work became very short visits. We did not let her suffer when the lymph glands became too enlarged for her to find any comfort. We both held her as our veterinarian helped her go to Rainbow Bridge, then the three of us cried. She left a gaping hole in our hearts and lives, but she also has left some great memories and taught us much.

Sweet little girl!

Come on, smile for me.

"Don't cry for me, Mom, I'll be there waiting for you and we'll romp and play again."

"As the anniversary of her departure nears, I find that I still miss her terribly. I hope that she has made God happy with her winning smile and loving way. Knowing that she is in no pain helps to alleviate the pain in my heart."
