Sir Thomas was rescued from Coonhound breeders who breed their dogs with Greyhounds to have faster dogs for Field Trials. Tommy had a "bad shoulder" and was unwanted
He had been taken to a veterinarian and given to a woman who rescues miniature horses. She was guided to another Greyhound rescuer who in turn called me. I went and picked him up and brought him home, then to my veterinarian who x-rayed his shoulder and gave me the bad news....he had O.C.D.
This is a flap of cartilage which is about the size of a fingernail, located in his shoulder, it made moving his shoulder and leg a very painful thing to do. Even when he would lie quietly, he would scream in pain. Therefore, he didn't move his leg which in turn caused a lack of muscle formation in that particular shoulder. We were referred to a specialist who performed the surgery
which was so good, you could not tell after a year just which shoulder was the damaged one!

Here are two who were the best of friends, Succa and Tommy.

Tommy tells Santa (??) what he wants for Christmas. Well, not really, Tommy feels that sofa is his and since there's an intruder he'll just make the best of him!
This time he's all decked out to be
ring-bearer in my daughter's garden wedding.
He carried the rings in a small pouch attached to his collar!
And he was soooo cool about the whole thing.
What a dandy dog he is!
