Fawn.....a retired racing Greyhound

racing greyhound

Fawn & Mom

Fawn, after she had gained weight, hair and confidence! September 1996.

When she arrived at our home in August of 1993, she was nearly hairless and weighed in at 48#.

forty eight pounds

The first fall she had to be outfitted with a coat! In any cold weather, it is wise to provide a thin-coated dog with protection.

First winter

A lesson in sharing

Getting accustomed to living with cats was at times rather trying! She looks very perplexed, while Sammy could have cared less.

Fawn&Dad

Enjoying being able to run just for fun and then relaxing a bit with Dad.

The Christmas rug.

Christmas with Fawn. She managed to get on the Christmas Rug first!!

Sun Bathing.

With rest, relaxation, good food, veterinary care and most of all love, she began to really enjoy her "retired life."

Fawn & Mom share a joke.

Yes, she even has time to share a joke with Mom!

But only Fawn knows the punchline.

At 9yrs old and still fast!

Here she proves that she still can run! This was taken in July 2000 when she was 9 yrs. old.

Fawn love

A real beauty.

Would we do this all again? You Betcha!!

Fawn had her personal story published in the Ohio Department of Transportation "Transcript" in Nov. 1996. This noteriety did not go to her head as she is a humble lass. Her greatest wish is for more of the nearly 50,000 greyhounds who are put down by various means to be adopted into loving homes and allowed to live in the manner she has. Fawn died September 9, 2002 at 7:00 A.M. with her "Mom's" hands on her so she knew that she was loved always.
Goodbye sweet girl.
